Lyceum Theatre, Broadway

Winner of the Olivier Award in London for Best New Comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong is a classic murder mystery chock-full of mishaps and more madcap mania than a Monty Python marathon! The Play That Goes Wrong follows the antics of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, who are trying their very best to stage a production of a 1920s murder mystery where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. As the show’s title might suggest, this is not as easy as it sounds with everything that can go wrong doing just that. Despite the setbacks, the actors struggle bravely to reach the final curtain. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a Broadway show – a ramshackle set, an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). This backstage look at the world of live theatre will show you just how hilarious it can be when everything that can go wrong…does. The Play That Goes Wrong is guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter. We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at Le Rivage Restaurant before the show.
