THE SOUNDS OF TANGLEWOOD

An Evening of Music in the Berkshires

JULY 31 – AUGUST 2, 2017 3 DAYS/ 2 NIGHTS

Nestled in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, in the quaint town of Lenox, Massachusetts lies Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for more than 60 years. The serene setting for a concert by the Boston Pops is perfect for a summer night under the stars with beautiful music filling the air.

Tonight’s program, called Tanglewood on Parade is a sampling of the variety Tanglewood offers. It’s one of the highlights of the summer, featuring performances by the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and Tanglewood Music Center orchestras. The evening program boasts a feast of music and festivities including the traditional performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The evening ends with a magnificent fireworks display overhead. We’ll enjoy the concert from our covered seats inside the Tanglewood Shed. There’s no better place to listen to live music as the sun sets and the stars unveil themselves. We’ll stay for 2 nights at the Pittsfield Crowne Plaza Hotel nearby.

In addition to Tanglewood, you’ll also enjoy some of the Berkshire’s most popular attractions. We’ll also visit the nearby village of Stockbridge, home of the famous Norman Rockwell Museum. The museum houses the world’s largest and most significant collection of original Rockwell art including enduring favorites from Rockwell’s Saturday Evening Post covers and the nostalgic Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas. Also in Stockbridge, we’ll visit Chesterwood, the early 20th century country home of sculptor Daniel Chester French, who created The Minuteman in Concord and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the house and studio, where you can view the casts and models French used to create the Lincoln Memorial.

In Pittsfield, we’ll visit the Hancock Shaker Village, a living history museum which brings the Shaker story to life. Established in 1783, Hancock Village thrived as an active community during most of the following two centuries and contains 18 original historic buildings.

Includes: Bus transportation, 2 nights accommodations at the Crowne Plaza, 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners, Shed seat at Tanglewood, all sightseeing and admissions, taxes, gratuities and baggage handling.
