SEPTEMBER 13 - 15, 2017 3 DAYS/ 2 NIGHTS
Discover a place where heritage and natural beauty come together in the rolling foothills of the northern Catskills in Cooperstown, NY. The village enjoys a picture postcard setting on the shores of Lake Otsego and retains the character and charm of times past. Our host for two nights will be the new Marriott Courtyard in nearby Oneonta.
Located on Main Street in the heart of Cooperstown, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is one of the country’s major tourist destinations. It has stood as the definitive repository of baseball’s treasures. It is every fan’s “Field of Dreams”with its stories, legends and magic to be passed on from generation to generation. Baseball is at the heart of this village, but there’s also top-notch art and culture to be found here.
Nestled on the western shore of Otsego Lake, one of the nation’s premier art institutions, the Fenimore Art Museum presents a perspective on the heritage and history of America through art. At the Farmers’ Museum, visitors will discover what life was like in rural America in the 1840’s.
Glimmerglass State Park overlooks Otsego Lake and is home to Hyde Hall, the largest home built in the United States between the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Your guided tour will bring to light a stunning reminder of a bygone American era, when powerful English families established vast estates in their former colonies.
For a culinary treat, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous luncheon buffet in the dining room of the historic Otesaga Resort Hotel overlooking Lake Otsego in Cooperstown. A winner of the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award, this majestic hotel exudes the charm and gracious hospitality of a bygone era.
We’ll also visit nearby Howe Caverns where you can venture down and explore its wonders. Elevators, paved walkways, knowledgeable guides and lighting systems will show off an exciting display of geological wonders, millions of years in the making.
